PRESS RELEASE

Nishant Patel Named November Student of the Month
at Community High School

Nishant Patel has been chosen November Student of the Month at Community High School. Nishant, the son of Naresh and Saroj Patel, is a resident of West Chicago.

“Nothing is impossible with hard work and dedication,” are the words that Nishant Patel lives by. He came to the United States only three years ago and has mastered the language while achieving an induction into the National Honor Society, maintaining honor roll status, earning the math department Blue Ribbon Award and the Bilingual Scholastic Award.

Besides being a Wildcat Ambassador and volunteering for the tsunami relief effort, Nishant works at Windsor Park Manor, a nursing home, as a diet aide. Also, Nishant is a student assistant in Algebra, a Hindi language interpreter and a participant in the Manav Sadhna Organization Festival. Mahatma Gandhi created this organization and its purpose is to help orphans, widows and poor people across the globe.

Nishant’s favorite high school memory was when he was asked to perform a cultural dance at the bilingual honors night. That night he was honored and proud to share his heritage with other bilingual students. He said Community High School gave him the opportunity to share who he was through the Indian “Garba” dance.

After high school Nishant plans to attend either Illinois State or Western Illinois University and study pre-medicine in order to work toward his career goal of becoming a radiologist. His dream is to become a professor at a medical research hospital so he may share his knowledge to help others.

Nishant will be honored at the December 6, 2005 CHS Board of Education meeting and his photo will be featured in the Student of the Month display.
