issues 32 tickets during Mini-Grant enforcement period
WEST CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, NOVEMBER 16, 2005 – The West Chicago Police Department finished their first enforcement period of the Mini-Grant Alcohol Program which ran from October 21 through November 4, 2005.
The focus of this program is on impaired driving with emphasis placed on enforcement of impaired driving laws, with a secondary emphasis on speed and occupant restraint. The officers working this detail wrote thirty-two tickets: one arrest for DUI, three citations for other alcohol related violations, two Zero Tolerance arrests - under the age of twenty one, and twenty nine citations for other moving violations, with two arrest for outstanding warrants.
Deputy Chief Jim Mazurek said, "The West Chicago officers will be out again during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend enforcing the traffic laws."
Mazurek stated that he wants everyone to be safe over the upcoming Holiday season and to remember to buckle up. "You and your family are worth it, and it only takes a second to use your seat belt. Please, don't drink and drive."
