Roadside safety check to occur in West Chicago
WEST CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, AUGUST 30, 2005 – The Illinois State Police and the West Chicago Police Department will conduct a joint roadside safety check in West Chicago at the end of August.
According to Deputy Chief Mazurek, officers will be looking for drivers under the influence of alcohol, transporting open alcoholic beverages, driving with no valid driver’s license and/or insurance, driving while license suspended or revoked, etc.
"The Roadside Safety Check is a good way to get the DUI's off the street plus drivers who do not have drivers’ licenses and insurance. The Safety Checks are done at random without the community knowing where it is," said Mazurek.
This program is funded from the US Department of Transportation and national Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
For further information, please contact the Traffic Unit officers or Deputy Chief Mazurek at 630-293-2222.
