Education Partners, good afternoon,
Some news for the last few days of summer vacation:
- As we said last week, the Board of Education is expected to again
discuss issuing Working Cash Bonds to address cash flow challenges at its
Aug. 22, 2005 meeting. We’ve compiled and posted an information page to help
clarify the issue.
The page includes a Q&A and a letter from the Board’s Finance Advisors
Committee – a group of financial experts that guides the Board on fiscal
matters – strongly supporting the sale of Working Cash Bonds. This site is
posted right on the front page of the District 303 website (www.d303.org)

- District 303 plans to release its ACT scores in October as part of its
annual comprehensive report on assessment and achievement. However, rest
assured that the scores are good – about the same as last year -- though
improvement is certainly needed and expected in a couple of areas. The
scores affirm our efforts and plans to bolster the high school curriculum
and increase rigor so that all of our students will do well on tests like
the ACT.
- And finally, a reminder: Superintendent of Schools Dr. Barbara Erwin
will host a coffee from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005 in the lower
level conference room at the St. Charles Public Library, One South Sixth
Ave., St. Charles. The community is invited to meet and talk with Dr. Erwin
about any school district-related topic.
Have a good afternoon,
Tom Hernandez
