Speaking of summer
school, this year’s offerings include a new program called
“Access to Excellence,” aimed at
students who will be freshmen and sophomores in the fall, who want to take
Honors English courses next year. This summer program is part of the new
high school English curriculum that was approved in December 2004, designed
to help raise achievement and increase participation in higher level

Congratulations to
Haines
Middle School sixth grader Courtney Smith
who recently won a Girls
Plus Math Camp Scholarship from Zonta West – Illinois. Zonta International
is a global service organization of executives in business and the
professions working to advance the status of women worldwide. Students were
chosen for the scholarship based on their grades, references and interest in
mathematics, among other criteria. The camp will be help July 17-22, 2005 at
Western Illinois University.

All District 303 staff
showing their faculty/staff ID badge will receive one free ticket to
St. Charles
East High School’s spring musical, “Guys and Dolls.”
The classic show is presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 22 and
23, 2005, and at 2 p.m. Sunday April 24, 2005 at the Norris Cultural Arts
Center.

A clarification re: the
Taste of SCN scheduled for
tomorrow night at St. Charles North High School: the $3 admission charge
buys $1 of tickets to do activities. More tickets will be needed for
additional activities. Each ticket is worth 50 cents. Tickets will be
available for purchase at the Taste.

St.
Charles North High School Summer Camp
Information and Registration is now available. Click here for
information and a registration form, or go to the District 303 website (www.d303.org),
click on “Schools,” then
“St.
Charles North High School,”
and then on “Athletics.”
Information can be found under “Camps and Lessons.” On-line registrations
only will be accepted. Payment will be expected and accepted by the
coach at the 1st day of camp made payable to St. Charles North
Athletic Department. For more information call the St. Charles North High
Athletic Department at 443-5700.
Finally, some folks have
called, concerned that they’ve received a fake/prank/hang-up call from one of
our schools or from the district. They pick up the phone and don’t hear
anything, but their caller ID shows the call coming from D. 303 or from a
specific school.
Actually, what has happened
is that they’ve received a Connect-ED
call. Remember, Connect-ED is a recorded message delivery system.
So, its computers wait to “hear” someone pick up the phone before playing the
message. This is the 1 to 2 second delay people are hearing, thinking it’s a
prank, and then hanging up on.
