Thanks to Senator Fitzgerald

A funny thing happened when I went to Senator Fitzgerald's website to check for new press releases... his site is gone. The flip side of Barak Obama being sworn in yesterday is that Fitzgerald is no longer in the Senate.  It surprised me that they had removed his site that quickly... almost disrespectful.

I admit to having had concerns over Fitzgerald's election six years ago.  A rich guy who had funded his own campaign... will this be a working member of Congress or is he just padding his resume?  An evangelical Christian, is this man going to work on the important work of government, or just march lock step with the theocrats? 

After six years of Fitzgerald's tenure, I have made up my mind about the man.  I think he was a good senator.  His self-financing of his campaign allowed him an independence of the Republican Party that allowed him to counter the corruption in Springfield in granting of contracts and the naming of independent prosecutors for the scandals in the governor's office.  He voted his conscience and was consistent with Christian values without grand standing on the talk shows and shilling sedge issues.

I guess he just proved to be a good senator.  I wish to take this opportunity to simply say thankyou.
