     West Chicago’s youth volunteers rose to the occasion again this weekend and spent Saturday morning “raking in the joy” of service to their community. Coordinated by the City’s youth committee WeGo Youth, 151 volunteers assisted 30 senior homeowners in clearing leaves from their yards.

     The West Chicago Park District will host it’s first annual Jingle Bell Jaunt a 5k run. Proceeds will benefit the newly formed park district foundation, Friends of the West Chicago Park District, NFP. The foundation mission is to further expand the capabilities of the West Chicago Park District to meet the growing recreational needs of the community.

     I have been accused of using scare tactics in trying to prevent raises for the District 33 employees.  I do think that the employees of District 33 have worked hard and deserve recognition for their efforts in providing a fine education for our children.  However, I do believe that caution is a wise step during this time of economic instability.
