"Two 18-year-old girls were charged Tuesday with using a credit card that a customer left behind at the Charlestowne Mall store where they worked," the Kane County Chronicle reported last week. "Cynthia R. Davalos of [357 E. Pomeroy,] West Chicago and Julia R. Gonzalez of Glendale Heights each was charged with multiple counts of forgery and unlawful use of a credit card." The Chronicle notes that the girls spent $350 at the store where they worked, "Deb," and $19.30 at a restaurant in the mall. The Daily Herald notes that it was Chinese food.

The Herald's blotter notes that Davalos's 19-year-old neighbor, Tom Wingstedt, also got in trouble with John Law. He seems to have been listening to too much Martha and the Vandellas. More after the jump...

Who says the local media is biased against West Chicago? Sunday's Sun-Times pumps Gateway Centre as a real estate investment. Among the quotes:

"I liked the Gallery condominiums right away. The fact that they
are right next to the downtown West Chicago Metra station, that's a big
selling point."

"I also like that the whole West Chicago area is being
rejuvenated."

Okay, so I'm not, like, brand new to town. Back when my wife and I moved here from Carol Stream, I was spending enough time reading the newspapers to find out anything I could about my new hometown, I figured I might as well post what I was finding online.
