This interview took place at one of the tables outside the Happy House Hot Dogs, one of Senator Fawghourne's favorite eateries. You see, fancy French pastries and exotic foods can be found all over the world, but a true Chicago style hot dog can only be had in northeast Illinois. People elsewhere people desecrate wieners with ketchup and relishes that come in various shades of olive drab. The Senator is a purist... polish with everything (mustard. onions, relish, celery salt, slice of tomato, and a quarter deli pickel. The senator pushed his fries off to the side and unfolded a sheet of paper in front of him on the table.

This interview took place in Senator Fawghourne's secret local office where he escapes from Grover Norquist and the rabid anti-tax increase people. He has long been known for fiscal conservatism, but that means that no tax dollar should be wasted and money should never be borrowed except to maintain the infrastructure. As he always says, "Tax money well spent is often a bargain. We should never forget our obligation to posterity in seeking a short term tax reduction."

I arranged for this interview for a reason. A reader had emailed me about a law, HB1607 TOWNSHIP-ELECTORS-LIMITATIONS, which "Transfers specified powers from the electors to the township board, but allows the electors to make recommendations to the township board and sets forth procedures for those recommendations. Provides that specified powers of the electors are not final unless approved at referendum." The reader described the measure using the phrase "a bit of a power grab."

This interview was neither requested nor prearranged... serendipitous... the product of running into the Senator as he strolled along Arbor Avenue near its intersection with Washington Street. It was only by chance that I noticed the Senator but it was passion and anger that brought him to my side of the street and taught me what arm twisting was all about This article is brought to you courtesy of a kind grant from the Jimmy Hendrix Foundation, a group dedicated to preserving the memory of alleged dead rockers.

This interview took place in Nora's Red Carpet Lounge, on the notorious and historic lower two blocks of Silver Street in beautiful downtown Hurley, WI. As I entered the local watering hole, Senator Fawghourne was on a stool near the window concentrating on the video slot machine in front of him. This article is brought to you courtesy of a kind contribution by Jeff Gannon in celebration of his happy years as the only male escort in the White House Press Room.

Senator called a rare press conference at the West Chicago Sportsman's Club. In the stately Polo Room, surrounded by the trophies and paraphernalia of decades of West Chicago sports heroes, the two lines of four folding chairs provided for members of the press were overly optimistic. The Senator didn't even smile when I waved as he crossed to the podium. I quickly left the table of tiny sandwiches and chips. Carefully balancing my cup of coffee, I started my tape recorder.

This interview took place sitting on one of the benches in beautiful down town West Chicago. I had been taking pictures of store fronts on Main Street for the Shopping Guide. Sitting there, I was thinking about whether I prefer individual store fronts or the panorama type resentation when a familiar voice boomed from behind me. This interview took place on a tour boat traversing the locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Face it, a 23 foot vertical lift in a lock is not up their with Raging Waters Water Park or a rafting trip on the Colorado, but, at least, it is a nice quiet place to talk. This interview took place at the cyber cafe in beautiful, downtown Rock Crossing, Montana, about five miles south east of Plentywood. The waitress and tech consultant there, Mabel, a woman some might think has been "rode hard and put in the barn wet", but in reality, the waitressing job merely allowed time for her two true passions, loop invariance of object oriented parsination routines and ice fishing. This interview took place on the balcony, overlooking the lake, at WegoWeb, Inc.'s International Headquarters, a "secret, secure, undisclosed location" in northern Wisconsin. The venue was suggested by Senator Fawghourne because it offered him an opportunity to indulge in one of his culinary favorites, deep fried fresh Lake Superior White Fish. We can neither confirm nor deny that this article is brought to you by a generous contribution from the cafeteria workers union at the CIA headquarters at Langley, or where ever it is.
