     I would like to provide a little balance to Mrs. Maguire’s letter.

     Teachers pay and School Administrator pay is always controversial and easy to criticize. Our board has expended a lot of time and energy negotiating contracts with several unions this year and I believe the board has negotiated in good faith with the best interests of the community as our objective.

     One hundred nineteen posters were submitted by fifth and sixth grade students from the community of West Chicago as entries to the Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest. Poster entries were placed on display at the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast at West Chicago Middle School on Sunday, November 2, 2008. Almost 170 community members cast their vote for the poster that best represented the theme "Peace Begins With Me".

     In one of his first speeches after his re-election to Illinois' 6th Congressional District in suburban Chicago, Congressman Peter Roskam quietly visited Wheaton Academy Thursday afternoon.

     Dr. Ed Leman, superintendent of West Chicago Elementary School District 33, will deliver several presentations showing how the District plans to handle enrollment growth and meet the needs of our 21st century learners. These plans include a building addition to bring 6th graders to West Chicago Middle School. Please stay after the presentation to share questions, comments, and concerns.

     Community High School District 94 in West Chicago would like to invite your eager-to-learn preschoolers to the Wildcat Preschool. The program operates under the supervision of Patti Kozlowski but is run by students enrolled in the Child Development Classes. The students apply what they have learned about the various stages of child development in a pre-school classroom setting. The preschoolers learn their primary skills while enjoying social interaction.

     Alicia McCarthy, of West Chicago, a Junior at Community High School District 94, has been recognized as the October PeaceBuilder of the month. Alicia received the PeaceBuilder Award for her ability to assist struggling class members and for taking the extra step to ensure that all of her group members were on the right path. She is to be commended for her service and desire to improve the atmosphere here at WeGo.

 The faculty and administration of Community High School would like to congratulate Jozef Pavnica for being chosen Student of the Month for October.
