Letter from Wayne Gregory

Greetings to all, It's time for me to get on 'my soapbox'. I decided to attend a Jim Oberweiss Townhall Meeting this evening which was held in West Chicago, Illinois. The main meeting discussion was what can be done about the high cost of oil and its byproducts. The potential buyout of our local EJ&E Railway by a Canadian firm was also discussed.

Glaucoma Van Will Provide Free Screenings to Local Residents

State Representative Mike Fortner (R-West Chicago) will be hosting the Illinois Eye Institute Glaucoma Van on Monday, August 18 to provide free glaucoma screenings to local residents. Fortner said the Glaucoma Van provides a convenient and affordable way for local citizens to get tested for this potentially serious eye disease.

July E-Newsletter

Dear Friend:

I am inviting senior citizens to participate in my upcoming Super Senior Mobile Day on Thursday, July 17.

I am partnering with Hanover Township and the Secretary of State's office to provide this event that will include a Rules of the Road Review Course, vision screenings, and a Secretary of State Mobile Driver Services Unit. The mobile unit will allow seniors to obtain or renew their Illinois driver's licenses or Illinois identification cards.

The event will take place Thursday, July 17, at Hanover Township Senior Services, 240 S. Rte. 59, Bartlett, IL, 60103.

General Assembly Scholarship Winners

State Representative Mike Fortner (R-West Chicago) has recently awarded eight local students General Assembly Scholarships valued at over $6,000. The students, who have shown outstanding achievement, service and leadership, will receive a tuition waiver for one-year to attend any one of Illinois’ public universities.
