State Sen. Randy Hultgren (R-Wheaton) says that with the new school year approaching, less fortunate students living in DuPage County need help acquiring essential school supplies to help ensure a positive learning experience. Hultgren is encouraging local residents to assist the DuPage Regional Office of Education by donating backpacks for needy students in DuPage County.
“The first day of school is special for many children, and something as simple as a new backpack can make that first day even more exciting for less fortunate students,” said Hultgren. “This is a fantastic opportunity for the entire area to get involved and help the children who need it most.”
The DuPage Regional Office of Education is hoping to collect 2000 backpacks to be distributed at the Annual Back to School Fair coordinated by Catholic Charities on August 8th at the DuPage County Fairgrounds. This fair is a one stop human services event for low income families living in DuPage County.
Backpacks or monetary donations may be dropped off at the following sites by Monday, August 6.
