Springfield, IL – “It’s important to keep the state government operating, but I simply could not support a proposal that offers no long-term commitments to the providers of essential state services,” said state Sen. Randy Hultgren (R-Wheaton). “While this bill was better than any of the alternatives proposed by Gov. Blagojevich, I’m disappointed that after a month of negotiations the only option we had was to vote for a temporary budget. As members of the General Assembly, we need to reevaluate our priorities—don’t string the residents of Illinois along. We need to pass a complete, responsible one-year budget that pays our current obligations and helps Illinois to live within its means.”
