Springfield, IL – A number of bills sponsored by state Sen. Randy Hultgren (R-Wheaton) are just one step away from becoming law, only needing final approval from the Governor. Measures to crack down on sex offenders, increase penalties on video voyeurism, and assist with missing persons reports are among the pieces of legislation waiting to be signed into law.
“While some of the major issues facing this state went unaddressed by the legislature, I’m pleased I was able to pass a number of pieces of legislation that will have a direct, positive impact on the state of Illinois,” said Hultgren. “The only thing that stands in the way of these measures becoming law is the Governor’s signature, which will hopefully come soon.”
The following pieces of legislation currently await the Governor’s signature:
- Senate Bill 273 - Increases the penalties for unlawfully recording another person without that person’s consent in a restroom, tanning bed, tanning salon, locker room, changing room, or hotel room.
- Senate Bill 364 - Requires the county sheriff/police to disclose to libraries the name, address, date of birth, place of employment, school attended, and offense of registered sex offenders and violent offenders against youth.
- House Bill 156 - Prohibits child sex offenders from being associated with county fairs.
- House Bill 194 - Provides that all law enforcement agencies must immediately accept any report of a missing person.
- House Bill 254 - Establishes interagency elder abuse fatality review teams to investigate suspicious deaths of persons age 60 or older.
- House Bill 1684 - Increases the penalty for the production or possession of more than 200 cannabis sativa plants.
