Celebrate Flag Day in an historic way with the Friends of the West Chicago City Museum on Saturday, June 14, 2008, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. All are invited to a Summer Lawn Party at the Currier Reed home, 241 E. Washington Street in West Chicago.
Those attending will step back in time while they stroll the spacious, rolling lawn of this 1856 home. Children will have an opportunity to play Civil War era children's games from 2:00-3:00 p.m., as well as to make flags from the Civil War period.
Live music performed by the Battlefield Balladeers, refreshments and a Flag Day speech by President Lincoln will be among the highlights, along with an appearance by Arvilla Currier herself, who will welcome all visitors to her home. Tickets are $15 per person, $12 for members; $25 per couple, $20 for members; $30 per family, $25 for members. Children under the age of 2 are free. Tickets are available at the West Chicago City Museum, 132 Main Street.
