Celebrate Flag Day in an historic way with the Friends of the West Chicago City Museum on Saturday, June 14, 2008, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. All are invited to a Summer Lawn Party at the Currier Reed home, 241 E. Washington Street in West Chicago. Those attending will step back in time and stroll the spacious, rolling lawn of this 1856 home. Children will have an opportunity to play Civil War era children's games from 2:00-3:00 p.m., as well as to make flags from the Civil War period. Steve Ingram, a tin typist, will use authentic 19th century photographic processes to produce individual or group portraits on a metal plate, which can be purchased.
Live Civil War era music, refreshments and a chat with President and Mrs. Lincoln will be among the highlights, along with an appearance by Arvilla Currier herself, who will welcome all visitors to her home.
Tickets are $15 per person, $12 for members; $25 per couple, $20 for members; $30 per family, $25 for members. Children under the age of 2 are free. Tickets are available at the West Chicago City Museum, 132 Main Street.

Correction:
Please be advised of an error which appeared in the recently distributed press release: Flag Day at the Currier Reed House....
The press release incorrectly stated that Steve Ingram, a tin typist, would be on hand to take photographs....Mr. Ingram will not be at this year's event.... Rather, authentic Civil War period musc will be presented by the Battlefield Balladeers.
I regret any inconvenience my error may have caused and would appreciate your assistance in its correction....
Thank you,
Rosemary Mackey
