We will be doing some pilot testing with our Edline pages and grading system for the remainder of the school year beginning this Friday, May 16th. The pilot test will include a process by which we automate the posting of available grades through our MIS department on a weekly basis to Edline. Our hope is to provide more frequent grading information on Edline so that you have the opportunity to be informed of your son/daughter’s progress. Please keep several things in mind as we test out this automation process.
- This is a pilot test of automating the process of posting grades to Edline. There may be glitches and inaccuracies with grades posted as we try to work out the “bugs” inherent in any new procedure.
- If you have any questions regarding grades, please contact your son/daughter’s teacher. Edline is simply a “spreadsheet” of grades. The calculation of grades can be very complex depending on the nature of the course and instructional methodologies used. There are often other factors that contribute to a student’s overall grade that may not be reflected in Edline. Therefore, it is important that the information seen on Edline be used as a tool for having a discussion with your son/daughter and his/her teachers rather than used for drawing absolute conclusions.
- Teacher’s Edline pages should contain a document describing the grading practice for the course. Please refer to that page to help provide a context for the grades that you see. If the document is not available, please feel free to contact your son/daughter’s teacher for the information.
Please remember that this is a pilot test as we try to automate the posting of grades to Edline. We understand that grades may already be well established and that the information that you may see may not be helpful in monitoring your son/daughter’s progress at this time of the year. We hope that if all goes well, this process will be in place at the beginning of the school year in 08-09.

Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Sincerely,
Moses Cheng, Principal
