MARIA ORTIZ - STUDENT OF THE MONTH MARCH 2008

     Maria is a member of Art Club where she has served as secretary. She was a member of the Cross Country Team her senior year. Maria had so much success she decided to continue running on the CHS Track Team, where she is currently participating at the Varsity level.

     While Maria maintains her academic excellence, she has volunteered her extra time during the school day to work in the CHS library. She has displayed a positive attitude in her daily work giving a smile to everyone she meets. Maria has been invaluable to the entire staff in the library and will be sorely missed next school year.

     In addition to her contributions at the CHS school library, she has also volunteered at the West Chicago Public Library where she reads books to children’s groups. Maria also holds a job at Toys R Us in the Customer Service Department. She plans on working at the Wasco Nursery this summer.

     Maria plans to attend the American Academy of Art to study Graphic Arts. She would like to help people in need and make a change in the world. She will start this summer by participating in the three day Walk for Breast Cancer and by volunteering to help victims of rape and domestic violence.

     We commend Maria for the contributions that she has made to Community High School and wish her the best of luck in all of her future endeavors!
