STUDENT OF THE MONTH TIM SCHUDA

     One of Tim’s teachers writes, “Tim is an outstanding individual in every way. He is an extremely hardworking student. Talking with him is like speaking with an adult. He is courteous, respectful, and friendly in all situations, responsible and trustworthy. He is reflective and introspective, and has a great sense of humor. Tim is a leader in the classroom, contributing to class discussion frequently and setting a standard for thoughtful contributions to our studies that is matched by very few.”

     Athletically, Tim has participated in the soccer program for four years, where he served as varsity captain for the past two years. He was voted to the all-sectional soccer team by the opposing coaches his senior year. Tim has earned Academic All-Conference honors both years he played varsity soccer. Tim is a member of both the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, and is a recipient of the Math Award for the past three years. He also has the distinction of leading the school in the Pledge of Allegiance every morning for the past year.

     Outside of school, Tim works at the children’s center at Lifetime Fitness in Bloomingdale. He finds time to coach soccer for third and fourth graders through the Carol Stream Park District. Tim is also an active participant in Relay for Life.

     Tim’s favorite quote, which reflects his philosophy of life, is by Joe DiMaggio “A person always doing his best becomes a natural leader, just by example.” Tim plans on attending either Illinois State or Augustana University and major in secondary education. After teaching social studies at the high school level for a few years, he would like to become a guidance counselor. After observing his own counselor, Mr. Engel, he could see himself in that role in the future.
