This is the update posted by the pastor of my daughter, Laura, and her husband, Mark. Although I was expecting this, it is hard when you see it confirmed. I cry when I try to tell people. Would it be possible for you to post the information on your Web site?
"I want to give everyone an update based upon a meeting that took place this afternoon with four doctors. Because of the surgery last week, they were able to get 30% of the tumor which gave a good sample to run pathology tests on. Dr. George was also able to visually evaluate the tumor and it's progress during the surgery. Today we got the report. In consultation with Mark, we want to give you enough details so you can know how to pray specifically for Shawn's healing. This tumor is considered inoperable and has broke through some of the natural barriers which means it has affected more of Shawn's brain. This is the reason for the delay in his progress and for his seizures. Because of this spread, it is impossible to surgically remove it. The option that the doctors recommend at this point is chemotherapy which would begin in about a month. The protocol for this type of chemotherapy can last 12-14 months. In a large percentage of patients, this strategy has proven to stop the spread and even reduce the size of the tumor. Currently Shawn will remain in the hospital for probably another ten days to recover from last week's surgery. Now that's the report from the doctors. "
