State Senator Randy Hultgren (R-Wheaton) would like to recognize the more than 600 local high school seniors who were recently named 2008 Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistant Commission (ISAC).
Illinois State Scholars rank in the top ten percent of Illinois high school seniors. Selection is based on a combination of factors including SAT, ACT, Prairie State Achievement Exam scores and class rank at the end of junior year. “I join many others in being proud of these students and their academic achievement,” Senator Hultgren said. “I know this honor will be a boost to college hopes and scholarships, and will also serve as an incentive to others to do their very best in the classroom.”
The State Scholars from the 48th District include students from 13 area schools and include 652 seniors. 18,178 students were recognized statewide.
“These students personify excellence,” said ISAC Executive Director Andrew Davis, whose agency oversees the program. “Illinois State Scholars are among the best and the brightest in our state’s high schools.”
Congratulatory letters form ISAC and Certificates of Achievement have been mailed to each high school for distribution to each scholar. Those who earned the award in the 48th district are being recognized on the Senator’s Web site (www.senatorhultgren.com) as well.
Senator Hultgren is urging parents to visit ISAC’s Web site at www.collegezone.com for more information on financial aid, career counseling, online campus tours and college applications.
