     The Illinois Retired Teachers Association (IRTA) is pleased to announce the endorsement of Representative Randy Ramey for the fall 2008 General Election.

     A birthday party of sorts is happening at 200 Main Street on Friday, October 3, 2008, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The celebration marks the start of the third year of the establishment of Gallery 200 in downtown West Chicago, and the Opening Reception of what has now become an annual month long tradition, Artoberfest.

     Mr. Donald Zabelin has been selected to receive the 3M Economic Education Excellence Award for 2008. This award is given to recognize educators who have a sustained history of contribution and commitment to economic education. Mr. Zabelin has been a Business Education teacher at Community High School for the past 31 years.

     Community High School will be celebrating Homecoming with a full schedule of events from Saturday, October 4 through Saturday, October 11. The theme this year is “Where in the World”… will the Olympics be held?

     As the ranks of Democrats continue to grow in the wake of Obama’s nomination for the Presidency, local Democrats will gather to celebrate the strides they have made over the last four years in DuPage County and to cheer on a man they believe will enable Americans to take their country back from the failed policies of the Republican Party. Momentum and energy are at an all time high for DuPage Democrats, as evidenced by 23,000 more Democrats than Republicans voting in the 2008 primaries.

     Special Guest will be Kirk Johnson, the 2008 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award for his humanitarian achievements in Iraq (www.thelistproject.org).
